Bampton Society was founded in 1989 as a civic society dedicated to the conservation of Bampton with its surrounding countryside and footpaths, and to the enhancement of local amenities and services. |
The Society arranges meetings designed to inform, consult, educate, and entertain with topics of local interest. All are welcome. |
|
The Society is a member of the Campaign to Protect Rural England. Note: The next President of CPRE is set to be the best-selling American author Bill Bryson. Info here. |
|
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday in alternate months at St. Michael's Community Hall, commencing at 7.30pm, except where indicated below. The Society also organises monthly walks. |

To help supplement its funds, the society also runs a secondhand bookstall at various Bampton events. We are always glad of donations of books - and of course, customers to buy them! On the occasion shown left, the 'Secret Gardens' weekend, over £70 profit was made from the cheap secondhand books sold! |

Visit to Simonsbath Mill |
Simonsbath Mill - the leat walk |
For the sixth year a series of 12 monthly walks to take place on the third Sunday of every month. The walks vary in distance from 3 to 8 miles. We usually share cars from Bampton where necessary. There have been some requests for mid-week walks or Saturday walks and some shorter walks - if you are interested email us and we'll see what could be arranged if there is sufficient demand.
