The new calendar is A4 size and printed on very high quality paper - there is space each day for noting events and engagements.
It has a page explaining the history of the fair from when the Royal Charter was granted by Henry III in 1258 - try parking your mouse on the image on the left to see the explanatory page.
Every month has a large photograph which between them cover the last 110 years! Some show fascinating images of early days starting at 1897, some show the 1940's and 1960's and 70's - and some show the fair in the new Millennium. You may be able to spot parents or even grand-parents amongst the crowds. Thumb-nail copies of the pictures are shown below.
Not only does this calendar make a splendid addition to any Bampton home, but it makes an ideal Christmas present which would allow friends and relatives to share in this 750th anniversary - it will be some time before the next one. And if you keep the Calendar for a while, it may well become a collector's item! |
