Although much of the project was still a building site, the sheer scale of the enterprise was breathtaking - far more impressive than photos or TV can show.

The visitor centre was excellent - an interesting exhibition, works of art, an educational video, a restaurant and a shop - and of course you can buy plants.

Taking the 'train' to get a closer look at the biodomes was quite an experience and a trifle damp - and not everyone looked at their best in a hard hat!
