Bampton has a very surprising range of shops and services for its size. There is a Post Office, bank (HSBC), two small supermarkets, a butcher, greengrocer, two bakeries, hairdressers, and a fish bar, printers, to name but a few. There are also no less than four pubs and two licenced restaurants.

B & SY Jackson of Brook Street

Famed for its locally produced meat from named farms, and home-made pork sausages free from colouring and preservatives. People travel from miles around to visit this shop.

The Spar shop in Newton Square is more than a village supermarket and newsagents: Sewards have been baking traditional bread here since 1908, three generations of the family in fact.

	We are open every day 7am to 9pm (8am to 8pm on Sundays) except Christmas Day afternoon!
	Spar is also an official stamping site for the National Cycle Routes, as well as being a National Lottery agent.
	Off-licence, local organic foods, hot pasties, greengrocer, and video/DVD hire!

The Spar Shop has recently changed hands, after 100 years of the Seward family involvement.

I often read the books when I was little, in fact I was even named after them, 'What Katy Did...', 'What Katy did next', and now 'What Katy did...in Bampton!'� I am a freelance clothing designer and originally took on the space as my studio, but I have always dreamed of running a shop, and soon realised that this was a perfect place to do just that.

'What Katy Did...' stocks all things nice and sparkly and beautiful.� From hand made ceramics, hand made bags (from 5 different textiles designers!), locally made soaps, home wears and even clothing.
The clothing is all Scandinavian design, so it is beautifully made and well thought out. Currently I stock ladieswear, but will have childrens clothing in the summer time.
I am always on the look out for lovely new things to bring to Bampton, so keep an eye out on the notice board outside for new stock and events.
