What does it cost to run our church? The answer is £25,000, which is equivalent to £70 every day of the year. An additional £5,000 will need to be found on timber preservation work on the roof, and on the beginnings of a project to re-wire the church and renew the lighting system. We now have a special fund which we are trying to build up so that the church clock can have a thorough servicing. It is many years since it was last done, and we rely on the clock to keep the good people of Bampton on time! Income to the church comes from the weekly collection plate, and fund-raising events; the only other income comes from fees it is allowed to charge for weddings and funerals. Thanks to the generosity of those who give to the church, especially those who use tax-efficient giving, we expect to be able to raise about £25,000 this year, which leaves us with a shortfall of £5,000. |
