This is located in Fore Street - it still retains its old-fashioned charm (small wooden drawers with Latin-sounding names, and old bottles of curious coloured liquids), as well as its very modern and practical function. Devon Air AmbulanceMany local organisations help to raise the funds for this wonderful service. Two helicopters now serve the county, and the one pictured here landed in Bampton's Station Road car park to give emergency treatment to an elderly lady. The pilot said he hoped we wouldn't mind if he avoided the 'pay and display' charges as he didn't have any money on him! The air ambulance gets, on average, about three calls a day, but is much at its busiest during the holiday season. |
